Random Thursday Thoughts

Well 2011 is coming to a close three (3) more days. I’m sort of numb about it. This year was tough with my health, all the changes at work, my mother-in-law passing and Dan re-deploying. We encounter many trials.

The great thing is my health has improved, I have decided not to think of my job unless I am actually there, I think of LaVerne everyday just work through the sad moments and Dan is coming home in about (11) days. That worries me.

It’s hard to explain I’m happy but with each deployment I change get more independent learn new things and I become use to the solitude. When Dan comes home it will change to someone ALWAYS being there. There is going to be a readjustment period. Then before I know it once I’m readjusted to being a couple he will be off again doing his job.

Well my game plan is to try and use patience which is the so hard for me. Which will include talking to myself and much prayer- to not get the urge and yell and carry on like a lunatic . I’m planning a holiday dinn…

My Boo is my hero everyday for the last six (6) years. He has been there for me when I don't want to get out of bed or when the day has got me down. He is there on my lap. I am so blessed to have my little guy with me during these last three (3) yrs. of Dan's deployments. Boo brings joy to my my life daily. Like Oprah says pets awaken the heart.

My Yearly Performance Review

I had my end of the year verbal review meeting with my supervisor. I did very well I’m so happy and relieved. This is great news. Since he is my new boss and there have been many changes to the office. Also as everyone knows I was out of work with my gallbladder drama for about two (2) months. My beloved mother –in- law passing in June and Dan’s deployment this year’s events have had me in a melancholy mood.

Dollhouse Projects I'm Working On

When Dan did his 24 months in Iraq I got a new hobby on top of cooking, writing and scrapbooking. I discovered the world of minatures.

Since we don't have the space. As Dan has stated I have taken over the house and most of the things in the in our home belong to me. Which I thing he is crazy to say such things.

I build dollhouses/miniatues from half scale kits. I get my kits from the Green Leaf Dollhouse company. They have a community which consist of fourms, blogs and tutorial. I have meet some very creative wonderful people one is Tracy Topps she is amazing. She has built over 100 miniatures.

This little kit is going to be Santa's workshop:

This little house is going to be a music shop:

A Brief Post

Like many Americans I was going through many emotions with the anniversary of 9/11, this past weekend. Making my anexity worse is all the volience in Afghanistan has left me drained this week. I have been feeling quite isolated and frustrated. I'm more fearful now then when Dan spent 24 months in Iraq.

Being born and raised in NYC, living in Washington D.C. during 9/11 and being part of the miltary life style for over 15 yrs. 9/11 has personally affected the last 10 yrs of my life.

The storms in the East Coast left me without t.v. for close to a week. So, I had little news coverage. However, my mom kept me a breasted of the world's sorrows which wasn't a comfort. God bless her just the same.

I started working on my dollhouse projects once again so I hope to have new photos up soon. I'm wiring the house now but I found I was out of some componets so I ordered them today.

I have a village kit that has 6 buildings so I want to start on that soon in time for Christmas. Th…

Have a Safe Weekend

Hurricane Irene-

It accord to me this morning while listening to the weather Dan has been deployeed during most hurricanes and snow storms. I hope that the reports of 110 MPH winds will not be so bad. The Blizzard of 2010, left me with damages up to 10K and many sleepless nights.

I only have one huge tree left and if something happened to that tree most likely the house would substain some major damage. The only thing I can do is pray and hope that the storm won't be that bad and that I don't have to take Boo out for many walks this weekend.

My parents have report some damages on the farm in Puerto Rico but they are ok which is the most important issue during hurricane season. They lost power for about two days.

To all my friends and family on the East Coast be safe.

God Speed-
Poor Dan-

He calls me at 0100 because he just found out about the earthquake the other night.

Dan: Uh honey sorry I'm waking you up, but I was worried I just heard about the earthquake.
Dan: you ok? Me: Yeah
Boo ok? Me: Yeah
Your sister, Sienna and Geo ok? Me: Yeah
the house ok? Me: Yeah

Me: Love you, click.

few hours later:

0400 alarm goes off.
Did I dream talking to dan last night?
Many days I feel like I'm not sure if I dreamt something or it really happened.

I didn't think Tuesday's earthquake was an earthquake. I thought it was a bomb. The 10th anniversary of 911 is to close and when I'm at work I'm tense.
That's be to God everyone was safe and no injuries were reported.

Why do people say stupid things

Sometimes I wish we (military families) would just stop protecting Americans freedom. People are dumb and inconsiderate and just make my life harder then it needs to be:

Below is one of my encounters last week.

Is Dan gone again? He shouldn’t leave you alone like that. You have this disability and all. (secretly thinking : Can you be anymore unAmerican in my eyes at this moment! Plus I been disabled my WHOLE life and I was ok when I was a single living in the city. My husband isn’t my PA he’s my husband!!! ) I mean really do people think this is a choice? When the government or a government agency says you are going to the M.E. you go it’s part of the job.

Thank G-d I don’t have weapons in the house or carry one with me daily though if I had a choice of weapon it would be a M-14.

I’m thanking G-d this is only a 6 month deal. (Secretly lighting candles) Since last time it was suppose to be a year that ended up being over (24) months.

Gigi and her beauitful Mia and loving husband

We are searching for a living donor to save the life of my family member. She is a young wife and mother of a beautiful 3 year old little girl. We had a donor but at the last possible moment they back out. Our hopes at that time crushed.

Gigi is searching for a possible donor with the blood type of (O+). O+ is not as uncommon as many my think the truth is (O positive is the most common Blood type (39%of the population), it is needed more often by people requiring Blood in hospitals.)

Our first ...step is to find someone with the same blood type. Once we determine that, the donor will have to call Gigi’s Transplant Coordinator at NYU Hospital.

After this our involvement is limited. One thing the Transplant committee wants to make sure is that the donor is doing this because they want too and are not being pressured by the recipient (Gigi nor her family). They will test your physical health and your mental health. I'm attaching a link …

LaVerne E. McGurty Obituary: View LaVerne McGurty's Obituary by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

June 6, 2011

We are at the 14 day mark before June 20 and Dan’s 6 month deployment. For the last (2) weekends we have been out of town visiting family. Last week it was NY this past weekend was Wisconsin. Dan’s mom is currently in rehab since she took a fall a few weeks back so it was great to see her in PT and in high spirits most of the time.

As with each deployment or after each R&R emotions come to a head and that is where I’m currently find myself. Momma LeVerne had blood pressure concerns he pressure was up then down. She is currently in the hospital but for a 95 yr old she is doing great. She can still talk your ear off.

There is also a concern of my aging parents, a grandfather with dementia and an Uncle with cancer. There are moments where I find myself falling apart in the bathroom. However, I only give myself (5) minutes to cry then I pull myself together.

Each time Dan and I are together I take in certain moments I want to keep in my memory for those difficult days that ar…

I Have Become Addict to Quibids

I have become addicted to winning gift cards on Quidbids. It's not that easy to win an acution but I find it fun especially when I am the winner.

I decided I will only purchase 50 bids a month for $30. I need to stick to a budget.

I only bid on gift cards of various cash ammounts. I like the $10-$25 cards that also earn you bids. I have won about (8) gift card and about (80) bids.

I won about $100 in gift cards for (50) $30.

Dan thinks it's hiliarous.

However, when we save:

When we go to dinner and save $25 at Ruby Tuesday's

Going to the movies and saving $25 Fandango Movie Card.

Then save:

$30 at Walmart, $25 at CVS and $30 Target.

Dan wouldn't think it was so funny.

I LOVE saving money it's my favorite sport.=)

I Finally Break My Silence

The media, fellow Americans, the senate, and congress are all driving me crazy. I have kept silent for almost 10 years since 9/11 and all week since the death of Bin Laden. As a native New Yorker and some one that was present while the Pentagon was burning on the other side of the river I can no longer be silent.

I remember when a co-worker came into my meeting and stated that a plane crashed into the twin towers. The first words I spoke were that it was no accident it’s an attack. I was in NYC in 1993 when the garage in one of the towers was bombed.

When we exvacuated our building in downtown D.C. it looked like a movie hundreds of soldiers and snipers on roof tops. In some areas you could smell the fire and see the smoke that blazed through the pentagon. I remember it was about 80 degrees and the sun was so bright. I was so scared I aszked a stranger to walk with me to the metro. As we walked people were crying and on their cell phones.

When we were on the metro a man boarded…

Lori sent me this in an e-mail and of course I had to share. This is the description of your typical woman of course =)

She can deal with stress and carry heavy burdens. She smiles when she feels like screaming, and she sings when she feels like crying. She cries when she's happy and laughs when she's afraid. Her love is unconditional. There's only one thing wrong with her. She forgets what she's worth! Pass this to every beautiful woman you know. Remind her that she's unique. I love you girl!

In twenty-five minutes something will make you super happy, But you have to tell ten crazy girlfriends you love them, Including me. L-o-v-e-y-o-u. Today is 'Love You Day' send to everyone you love.

The third week in June Dan will be leaving overseas once more. Which translates into we have a lot to do and no time.

Dan's mom LaVerne been in the hospital for a few days and is now in rehab recovering nicely. She's enjoying the fact the rehab allows her a daily bubble bath.
So his mom is constantly on his mind though he doesn't let on.

So between now and June we must do the following:
Get to Milwaukee for a weekend.
Get to Puerto Rico for a weekend.
Get to Hershey Park to celebrate Sienna's third birthday 2 weeks ahead of time in June. (Dan leaves on her birthday)
Dan has an important meeting in Dallas next week.
He has one more exercise with the battalion.

And we mustn't forget to breathe, eat, sleep and work in between all this excitment.

We are thinking about getting another dog because Boo is aging and ill. My worse fear is that Boo dies and Dan isn't here and I have no other dog. If this shall come to pass I may just have to take in a stray child =)~. Does …

I learn something new everyday

I learned that Ms. Elizabeth Taylor, was born in the England and converted to Judaism in her 20's. All this time I thought she was born here in the U.S.

The dates of 2011 are interesting

My sister-in-law sent this to me I found it interesting

This year we’re going to experience four unusual dates – 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 and that’s not all.Take the last two digits of your year of birth-now add the age you will be this year, and the result will be111 for everyone ! This is the year of Money! This year October will have 5 Sundays, 5 Mondays and 5 Saturdays. This happens only once every 823 years. These particular years are known as ‘Moneybags’; the proverb goes that if you share this with eight good friends, money will appear in the next four days as is explained in Chinese feng-shui. It's worth a try.

Lazy Sunday

Hope everyone turned their clocks forward.

Can you believe Dan reminded me it's my Birthday! I am not sure what day it is most of the time. I keep asking Dan what day is it. I think it's driving him a bit crazy. These last (2) months in and out of the hospital have left me quite confused.

It's just a get lazy Sunday. Church late this afternoon and a free meal at Silver Diner. Silver Diner has a club card. Each time you eat at the diner you earn a point; after (5) points you get five dollars off your next meal.

On your birthday you get a free entree and a free desert. I'll keep ya'll posted about the rest of my day. I hope I get coffee served in bed though. =)

Also, thanks for all my birthday cards and birthday wishes.

Charlie Sheen is Filing a Discrimination Case?

Damm my girlfriend DJ is right anyone can file a discrimination complaint. I should know this being an EEO Specialist. If people perceive him as disabled he can claim that as a basis for discrimination.

I have to look and see if being a drug addict classifies as a disability.

However, the burden of proof of discrimination falls solely on the individual claiming discrimination. The percentage of a finding of discrimination is less then 3%.

He is a total nightmare. No wonder Emilio never took the Sheen name.

Hi everyone

I'm so sorry I haven't posted but I can't sit up or lay down to long. This has been a long process I get my stiches out tomorrow. However, I'm sore and I'm not sure about going back to work next week. Thanks for all the cards, flowers and well wishes.
Hi Everyone,

I have been feeling pretty sick. I had to take off Thursday. I was all dressed to go to work and I got nausea and dizzy. So I went back to bed. I went in yesterday I'm trying not to ask for any more advance leave. I'm in the hole by 50 hours. I also have a new boss so I'm kinda stressed out. However, it's a long weekend and I work from home Tuesday so that is blessing for me.

Sad News:

Today Erich is going home. =( No more chef in my kitchen. I promised myself to keep up the cooking it's healthier then the frozen and over processed stuff I eat. I just don't think it's practical to cook for one person. When Dan is home that's a plus I'm not cooking for one.

This June Dan will be heading out once more. I swear I think theses deployments are harder on him then me. I get really focused on the task at hand keeping up the house, the lawn, the dog, and work etc. I call it getting in the zone.

Until next time,

Tuesday's Thoughts

Hi Everyone!

I hope ya'll had a great Valentine's Day, Dan sent me flowers and candy.
This weekend I wasn't feeling well I was nauseous and sleepy. I got a slight temp. So, I mainly slept in. I wasn't feeling well at work yesterday. If I wake up like the last two days I am staying home tomorrow we will see.

Erich cooked stuffed pepper this weekend and they were delicious. He is going back to Chicago this Saturday. I really don't want him to leave. I will miss his company and cooking. (but Boo is sweet company) Erich is actually learning to cook. He's made many recipes from magazines and some from the TLC channel website. I have been watching the Kitchen Boss, Buddy has great recipes.

Dan can't cook much but I will say he can cook eggs and bacon. He also can bake a cake from the box mix.

Until tomorrow

Cooking and Eating

I don't know what I'm going to do when Erich returns to Chicago. Last night he made butterflied pork chops with chutney and potatoes. We or should I say he got the recipe from Rachel Ray's Everyday magazine. Erich is become a great cook. Kudos to Erich.

I didn't eat much but I have left overs for tonite. =) I'm slowly eating solid foods. Unfortunately, I left my lunch on the kitchen table. I hope there is something in the cafeteria I can eat.

Until next time

Yes, I promised myself I would write a blog entry once a day. BUT a Wednesday in early January Dan rushed me to hospital at 0600. I was having sharp chest pains, I couldn't take a full breathe and throwing up.

Turns out I have gall stones! Hundreds of them and 2 VERY LARGE ones. One is trapped in the cystic duct and the other in the common bile duct(CBD) I had three Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) done. Each time it was done it removed dozens of stones but the 2 biggies remain. They look like yellow diamonds in the photos. I have a stent put in running from my gallbladder I think straight to my stomach. I'm eating mainly soft foods.

I was hospitalized twice and my body was at war fighting a major infection. I was out of the office for almost month.

At the hospital I was told I had this problem for years. See I was right I didn't have acid reflux I have been misdiagnosed for the last 4 years.

I returned to work this week I didn't want to take more adva…
