Question of the Day

Through out my day I ALWAYS encounter strange situations. I have decided I need input on these moments so I ask you:

Why is it people have conversations on their cells? When they are in the restroom in a the stall?

These are the reponses I got from co-workers on my floor:

They get good reception. They were waiting an important call. What are your comments:

The last week of the year

I love the last week of the year most of my co-workers are using their vacation time. Our data person and I are the only ones in the office this week. The phones are not ringing off the hook. What does that mean to me? No one is calling to complain.

Until next week when the calls start up and I hear, "I was sent a notice of prosed removal. They can't do that to me, this came out of the blue, I am a good employee." Yes, people do get fired from federal government jobs. Also these employees do know they are in hot water. Letters of counseling or verbal warnings are given to employees before a prosed removal is ever issued. There is NEVER a dull moment in my job and I guess that is what makes it interesting and humorous at times.

All thoses myths of no one gets fired from a government job is a lie. Employees can be placed on a performance improvement plan if they aren't doing their jobs and at times get demoted or terminated. During 2011-2012, there is a salary freeze n…

My Sister's Christmas Card for 2010. I love my niece/God Daughter!

Well I'm done with my class and have decided not to continue I rather blog, play Facebook games, scrapbook and built dollhouses. 2010, has come and gone in a blink of an eye. I still can't beleive Dan is back home. Then again the state of our house reminds me daily. =) We are not the most organized people and we are still trying to adjust to each other again. By the time we are adjusted he will be deployed again. =(

Dan will spend Christmas here and New Year's with his Momma. I chose not to go Maryland is cold enough I have no desire to travel to Wisconsin.

We are hoping to visit Florida in March to visit friends and family. We are working out the logistics so I will keep you post.

Pearl Harbor Day! December 7, 1941

I'm proud to be a Navy Wife today as I am everyday.

Some 100 survivors, the youngest of whom are in their late 80s, have traveled from around the country to attend Tuesday's ceremony.

The event is being held across the harbor from the USS Arizona, which sank in the attack and where the remains of nearly 1,000 sailors and Marines are still entombed.

The survivors will be welcomed by a new $56 million center for visitors and take a boat out to the memorial that sits on top of the battleship.

The new center has twice the exhibition space as the old one, offering a deeper understanding of the attack. (Christian Science Monitor 2010, )

Happy Lazy Sunday!

Happy Lazy Sunday! We ‘ve had a busy I’m still trying to get my outline done for my term paper. Dan is at the gym this morning. Yesterday, we went to a funeral for a Solodist . I became of the women’s group while Dan was in the sandbox. When one of us dies the others stand as ‘color guard’ for lack of a better word(s).We each hold up a candle while the casket is carried in and out of church. Ms. Marie was 87, I’ll always remember her smile.
Then last night I went to an annual dinner dance with a friend who also is a co-worker. Dan never told me her was coming home so there was no ticket for him =). I had a girl’s night out. Boo and Dan had a boys night in. Until tomorrow have a great lazy Sunday.

Here are some pixs from last night.

Dan's Home!

Oct 28, Sunday night: I’m in the office doing homework. Someone is trying to get in I hear keys jingling at the front door. Boo is barking,

“Katrina (my neighbor) is that you?” I yell.

“What’s wrong? You ok?” no answer.

Boo is still barking now runs into the office.

I’m freaking out. I get up I should lock me and Boo in office? Should I call Katrina, 911?

They are inside! foot steps, my heart is pounding, I peak, I see someone, but who?

Dan? Is that Dan?

Steps closer, I look out

“What are you doing here?”

“I live here.”

“What are you doing here?”

“I live here.”

“Again! What the hell are you doing here?”

“I resigned from my position.”

I close my eyes take in and release a deep breath.

“F*** you scared the sh** out of me.”

These scenarios in life can never be made up. At times life is far more interesting than a novel.

Now the hard beings: learning to be around each other again, dealing with everyday life. After more than two years and what felt like a trillion miles apart. This is stu…

Dumb Laws

I was listening to the radio and they were talking about dumb laws. So, I went online to see if my county had such laws. Yeap they do! It is illegal to do the following in Rockville Maryland:

Persons may not swear while on the highway. It is illegal to remove a public building by writing on it.Citizens may not swim in the public fountains within the city limits. If I ever see this I will make a citizen's arrest.

Teriffic Tuesday to Ya'll

I haven't been able to post because I'm trying to finish up Sienna's birthday items. I fly out next week to spend time with her. My parents are also coming state side to visit. So my trip to New York will be a fun one.

Hope Everyone had a Great Flag Day

The national flag of the United States of America (the American flag) consists of thirteen equal horizontal stripes of red (top and bottom) alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in the canton (referred to specifically as the "union") bearing fifty small, white, five-pointed stars arranged in nine offset horizontal rows of six stars (top and bottom) alternating with rows of five stars. The fifty stars on the flag represent the 50 states and the 13 stripes represent the original thirteen colonies that rebelled against the British monarchy and became the first states in the Union.[1] Nicknames for the flag include the Stars and Stripes,

Old Cemeteries

(My humorous hubby sent this to me this morning) It's werid I know but I love to read old tomb stones at cemeteries.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
And, one who can enjoy browsing old cemeteries.
Some fascinating things are inscribed on old tombstones!

(Nowadays it would cost a small fortune to put poems like these on a headstone)

Dad's Little Girl

This was a photo someone sent me. The caption went something like "Little girl.. won't let go." Her Dad was getting ready to deploy that morning. In honor of the anniversary of D-day. Please remember the families that give up so much for love of God and country.

Life Lessons

I got this as an e-mail from a co-worker who soon after lost her battle with cancer. I wanted to share these great lessons. I try to pratice and remember daily.

45 lessons life

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents
will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is
all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a s…

Rue McClanahan,

The Golden Girls is still one of my favorite shows. I always watch it on Life Time at werid hours when I can't sleep and each Saturday morning. The characters were great. The best memories I've had were sitting on the couch with mom and my grandma, who spoke limited english. The comdey crossed all language barriers. Each week nite we would get together to watch our show. My grandma has been gone for six years now. Yet, when my mom and I get together. You will find us drinking coffee with crackers watching the Golden Girls. This link has a nice article with scences from some of McClanahan's greatest T.V. moments.

Work and Court Don't Mixed

Rambling thoughts

I worried about keeping a blog. I knew I couldn’t keep it up. Yet, I vow to do better in the coming months. Things have gotten busy with work and the home front.
I was in Colorado last week for leadership training. This training was one of the best training in my life thus far. It was worth every penny. Thanks to my hubby’s support we were able to scrap up the money. We were in the mountains of Estes Park, Colorado, 90 minutes from Denver. I’m currently working on a piece regarding the training and my experience.

Niece’s 2nd Birthday
Sienna turns two this month. My parents will be coming in from Puerto Rico to visit. Boo and I will be going up to Queens, New York for a visit. I will be baking this year’s birthday cake the theme Backyardigens. Sienna favorite character Pablo (she pronounces it Pabo) is the going to be the cake. I had a heck of a time finding the darn cake pan but I found it on e-bay. The things we do for our kids or nieces.

The Creation of The Navy Wife

Though this is titled The Creation of The Navy Wife. It is actually for any military wife. Marines, Army, Coast Guard and Airforce. We may have married into different branches but we are all the same. - God Speed-

The good Lord was making a model for Navy wives and was into his sixth day of overtime when an angel appeared. She said, "Lord, you seem to be having a lot of trouble with this one. What's wrong with the standard model?"

The Lord replied, "Have you seen the specs on this order? She has to be completely independent. Possess the qualities for both father and mother, be a perfect hostess for four or forty with an hours notice. Run on black coffee, handle every emergency imaginable without a manual, and be able to carry on cheerfully, even if she is pregnant or has the flu. And she must be willing to move to a new location 10 times in 17 years. And, oh, yes, she must have six pair of hands."

The angel shook her head, "Six pair of hands? No way." Th…

Sticker shock: When eyes grow like saucers, your month hangs wide open and your froze for five whole seconds.

Saturday’s trip to Sears was a bust. Couldn’t find a shed. So next weekend it’s off to Home Depot. I went on their website but all I found was custom made sheds which of course cost more than our van.

Macys is a pretty decent place to shop for evening wear (for the Navy Ball) but I never really shop there. I usually go the Exchange, Target or Penneys. I decided to go in because they had a SALE on women suits. Lately I have wanted to upgrade my work attire and started looking at the rack of suits. One rack had a 50% of f the original price. I was about to try on a suit when I saw the price tag. Sticker shock! The price $280 and that was at half price. If I wasn’t in the fitting room with a whole bunch of other women; I would have been cursing like a dirty Sailor. The first thought that entered my mind: Aren’t we were in a recession? Did someone forget to tell these women?

The afternoon was salvaged by lunch/ early dinner at Legal Seafood. I had fish and chips with of cour…

Spring is Here! The Fleets in Town

I know when spring has arrived not by the birds, bees nor trees. It's when your city is invaded with Sailors and Marines. Here are some great photo's from Fleet Week.

The Beginning

My good friend Lorie Shewbrigde is a Master Blogger. I love reading her posts. She tells me I should start one for kicks. So, here I am blogging. Like Lorie I have a disability. I use my wheelchair or my walker. We met on a Meditterian cruise back in 2007, at the gift shop. We were both complaining to our wonderful husbands about the rude passengers on the ship.
I always had someone bumping into me about to fall into my lap. They‘d look horrified and would walk away, without one word. Lorie always states since we are wheelchair users we see butts and babies. Some butts are great but for the most part I choose the babies.

My husband Dan is a 20 year Navy veteran. He is working with the Army in Iraq and it’s been over 15 months. Things here have gotten quite stressful, confusing and at times downright irritating

I am still trying to make repairs to the house since the Blizzard of the century. Handle the boss, the parents, help out my sister, deal with the car, the fridge, the running toile…
